Experiential Movement

Our Move, Connect, Learn work is based on the Theater Arts for Holistic Development (TAHD) approach developed by Dr. Ambika Kameshwar. Our focus is on experiential movement as praticed in TAHD.

Experiential movement refers to a form of physical activity that emphasizes personal exploration, self-awareness, and expression through movement. It involves engaging in various types of movement practices with a focus on experiencing the sensations, emotions, and connections within one’s body as one interacts with the environment. As you review this ebook, one key issue to consider is: What types of movement activities should we include in a child's movement diet? Daily walk, chores, play, sports, and many other forms of movement activities can be incorporated. Parents are often aware of the need for movement and do include different kinds of movement. Our goal is to encourage parents to include experiential movement in their child’s movement diet.

How it Began

The seed for the 100 Days of Move, Connect, Learn project was planted in 2022 when we organized a 100 Days project in collaboration with RASA. We gained experience in hosting 100-Day projects in the community. More importantly, the Move, Connect, Learn team formed during this project.
Ananth started his Bharatanatyam journey in 2012. After completing his arangetram he joined RASA as an online student. Learning Bharatanatyam with a TAHD approach seemed like the right path for him and he started learning dance with Ujwal Jagadeesh.
When we started the 100-Day Lab, Ananth demonstrated a few lessons for the 100-Day project with Ujwal. Then, Ananth started narrating stories and the Ananth's Adventures Youtube channel took shape. Another important milestone was the e-book written by Dr. Dasaratha Rama for RASA. In the meantime, Ananth and Rama continued to explore web development with Mr. Manu Sekar at HashHackCode. These experiences came together in our Move, Connect, Learn project!
